For Educators: Respecting Babies

This book is a great place to start for early educators who work with infants and want to know more about how to engage them as individuals worthy of respect, regardless of age. Written by Ruth Anne Hammond, President of the Board of Directors and a mentor/teacher with Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE), this book “seamlessly moves in and out of explaining care providing rituals and the pearls of wisdom that inform them, which … transforms what some see as a ‘technique’ into the respectful, authentic caregiving that it is.” A student of Magda Gerber, Ms. Hammond brings both depth and practicality to the process of making respect central to the relationship between infants and their parents and caregivers. Published by Zero to Three, a national, nonprofit organization that provides parents, professionals and policymakers the knowledge and know-how to nurture early development.
